Ramping into tomorrow's unemployment report.

Market News

01.31.13

Top Day Market News

Weekly jobless claims come in at +38,000 with continuing claims 3.17 5 million. Personal income is strong +2.6%. Personal Spending was flat at +0.2%. Street been looking for a 0.3% employment cost index came in at +0.5%. These numbers provide more heat than light. Crosscurrents continue. Of course we are ramping into tomorrow’s dreaded unemployment report.

Yesterday, the FED left rates unchanged now and for the foreseeable future. They again tied their treasury repurchase program to the unemployment rate.

Relative strength in some of these markets yesterday had approached excessive levels. No market is in danger of a trend reversal today.
