U.S. oil stockpiles last week hit a record of 417.9 million barrels, based on data that goes back to the 1980s.

Gold futures settled at their lowest level in nearly 7 weeks on Wednesday. Then it climbed back up after the release of minutes from the January Federal Reserve meeting.
