Top Day Recommendations
Well almost as advertised yesterday was a range extension day. This morning, the core CPI came in higher than expected at +.3%. This number should remain hot with higher gasoline prices being factored in. Jobless claims were higher by 20,000 to 362,000. The EC is getting hit this morning on European economic performance, or lack of same. The fed statement yesterday with the release of last month’s minutes is being widely analyzed this morning. The increase in the payroll tax plus the prospect of the sequester on March 1 is the spanner in the works, however. With markets, perception is reality and the current perception is that mandatory spending cuts plus higher taxes will trigger an economic slowdown.
