Overnight the idea that the Bank of Japan may appoint a governor who is very pro-stimulus helped to lift markets overnight. Also, the Chicago Mercantile exchange is said to have approached the Deutsche Boerse in an offer to acquire that exchange. Metals are rebounding from oversold levels. The Italian elections are still awaiting results from this weekend. No major economic releases today. Gold has tested outside resistance of 1595 even before the opening. The market is anticipating testimony from Fed Chairman Bernanke later in the week to determine the resolve of continuing quantitative easing.
