Gold futures vaulted higher on Friday after a weaker-than-expected jobs report heightened expectations that the Federal Reserve would keep interest rates lower for longer. Companies scaled back hiring in April, adding just 160,000 new jobs, in a sign the U.S. economy is still suffering from an early-year chill.
Oil futures edged lower on Friday as traders looked beyond recent supply disruptions in Canada and Libya and focused on the global crude glut.
