The balance of trade deficit comes in at 41.29 billion versus 37.13 billion. And this was a minor negative for the bond market. The market is going into the countdown phase towards Friday’s unemployment number. Of course, Wednesday will provide the opening act with the ADP private jobs forecast. This number sometimes tracks well and sometimes is completely misleading. Yesterday the release of the Institute for Supply Management number triggered a overreaction in the currency markets with the dollar losing substantial ground to almost all its major counterparts. Today we see a little bit of a reaction back the other direction. Other than that not much is outstanding in terms of market direction except for gold’s inability to stay above $1400.
