Top Day Market News
Weekly jobless claims come in at 346,000, down 11,000 while the continuing claims number comes in at 2.95 million. Both are a little bit better than expected. We see slight selling pressure the bonds. The markets are otherwise largely unmoved by this data point. Of course we get the big number, nonfarm payrolls, the headline unemployment number, hourly earnings, average workweek all tomorrow at the strike at 8:30 AM. Today is potential reversal day for crude but it looks like it’s saving itself. Stocks were trying to claw back some of yesterday’s losses but are stalling at median levels.
Yesterday, the Fed’s Beige Book was a bit more upbeat in tone than many had expected. Of course, many are still looking for the effects of sequestration to provide an inexorable drag on the economy.
