Last night, the Bank of Japan maintained monetary policy, refraining from adding additional stimulus. This was viewed as a disappointment and sent the Nikkei 1.46% lower and the he Yen higher erasing yesterday’s declines. At the same time, the Aussie dollar fell as there was an announced contraction in housing activity. This also took oil lower into support levels. All in all, the BOJ “non move” triggered a “risk off” response.
