This morning, weekly unemployment claims come in at +386K, a negative. Plant closings in the auto sector was a factor as was seasonal and heat influences. The auto industry is not losing jobs however.

Philly Fed at 10 and Leading Economic Indicators as well. Philly Fed was a seriously negative number last month. Traders are looking for a revision or a confirmation.

Oil is higher after a terrorist bombing in Bulgaria against a busload of Jewish tourists is blamed on Iran. There has been a fear of Israel taking a preemptive action against Iran’s nuclear program.

Canadian dollar is at two month high helping to lift metals. Bonds are lower on higher equities. Earnings have been better than expected, generally.

$32 million dollars’ worth of silver is recovered from a World War II ship wreck.
