Top Day Market News
Back from a couple of days of vacation. As far as eco releases, the main thing is the oil inventory report at 10:30. Oil over the past two sessions lifted primarily due to the unemployment number as jobs creation came in at 163K as against an expectation of 100K. The decline in the EC this morning is based on projected Euro zone weakness and this has bled into the oil complex in the first hours of trade today. The American Petroleum Institute reported last night that crude consumption declined by 4% to 15.9 million barrels a day. Gasoline demand was the lowest since February which is curious as August is a heavy vacation demand month. At the same time, API stated that crude stocks declined by 5.4 million barrels. Traders are looking for a decline of 1.6 million barrels according to the Dept. of Energy. Additionally, hurricane Ernesto weakened to a tropical storm. German industrial production also declined in June.
