Top Day Market News
The big story yesterday was the flash crash in crude oil with a loss of $3 in one minute. A confluence of forces created a perfect storm. First there were thin trading conditions due to the religious holiday. Second, there was the expiration of October options. Third, the algos kicked in as support levels were taken out and there weren’t any orders on the books to halt the decline until value buys at 95.00 basis November futures. Overnight, we continue to back and fill with a downside bias as ideas that eco contraction will reduce demand. Holiday conditions will prevail again today.
