Top Day Market News
Happy Columbus Day. It’s a normal market trading day.
No economic releases, but then again the government is still closed. As of this writing, there still was no deal in place to either open the government or raise the debt ceiling. The US could default as early as October 17h if the debt ceiling is not increased. The political brinkmanship that’s currently in play is fraying nerves. Mainstream Republicans are getting squeezed from Democratic on one side and the Tea Party on the other. Everything will work out in the end because there’s no reason for it not to but the road to resolution is wildly circuitous at best.
Soybeans edged higher due to harvest delays caused by rain. Markets in Japan and Honk Kong were closed for holiday.
