Ebola fears on the rise.

10.15.2014

Top Day Market News

Yesterday, crude oil continued to plummet towards $80 a barrel (actually $77 seems to be the new target) as the IEA, the statistical arm of the Department of Energy, cut its forecast for demand.

Russia should be sufficiently hurt economically by this rout in the price of oil. Bonds continued higher and yields lower with the closely followed 10 year at 2.206% after trading to a fresh low of 2.19%. If the WHO sees Ebola cases in West Africa as high as 10K a week by December 1st, the question of containment becomes critical. It’s difficult to envision a sufficient number of medical personnel is place to contain 10K a week in new cases. Meanwhile, faced with ever more persuasive signs of economic contraction, Angela Merkel is talking about austerity. Das ist unglaublich falsch.
