Headline Consumer Price Index comes in at +0.6 with the core rate (minus food and energy) comes in at +0.1%. The headline is hotter than expected. The core rate is cooler than expected. Industrial production and capacity utilization will be released at 9:15. Japan is about to become the single greatest holder of US debt supplanting China. As much as there is a concern voiced over the levels of foreign holdings of US debt, the positive aspect is that the demand is skewed to the buy side and brings down the cost of financing deficits. Bids to buy US debt is running at a record $3.17 for each dollar of debt offered. 10 year yields are at 1.68 percent compared to 2.25% a year ago.
