Top Day Market News
Last night after the close, Fitch ratings agency put US debt on negative watch. The Senate broke off their negotiations when it was learned that the House was going to vote this evening on extending the debt limit to Mid February and a continuing resolution to keep the government open until December 15th. Actually, what the House is asking for is what the Democrats were initially looking for. Nudging the can down the road is not much of a solution, however.
The fact that the NASDAQ did better than the S+P on a down day was a modest positive. Many are posturing to fade the news of an agreement if the market brushes up against previous highs.
The government’s borrowing ability expires at midnight.
