Sorry. Running late. The Red Sox are rearranging my routine. Weekly jobless claims and continuing claims were released at 8:30. They came in higher than expected. The data continues to be distorted however as California continues to work through a backlog. The Trade deficit was little changed as exports stalled probably due to the government shutdown and the inability to do export inspections. EC’s increase has more European exporters.
Nasdaq continues to lose ground to the S+P as a spread. Gold had a flash higher into resistance and failed. Anthony Caro died yesterday. Check out the sculpture he left behind.
