Top Day Market News

Weekly jobless claims come in at 369K, better by 23K. Continuing claims about the same.  Durable goods come in at +9.9 (ex-trans, up 2.0%) with a minor upgrade to September (which was radically lower).  P&G better earnings helps to stabilize equities. Interest rates continue to back up however. This has been a driver in lower gold prices.

With the glut in domestic oil in Cushing Oklahoma, the US is now exporting gasoline. Crude is lower by 13% on the year. Also, there has been discussion about China and it being a currency manipulator. Actually, their currency has appreciated 11% against the dollar for the year.  Even with deteriorating sentiment, the nasdaq-es spread has failed to take out Monday’s lows.
