Top Day Market News
The Federal Open Market Committee concluded yesterday. They left rates unchanged as was universally expected and left stimulus unchanged as well. It was a pro forma buy the rumor sell on the news. The continuation of stimulus and the continued delay of tapering was already baked into the market so when the market failed to leg higher, those positioned for such a move bailed and the dollar strengthened going into the close as rates backed up. Some thought the communique sounded a bit more hawkish than expected. Today we get initial and continuing claims along with the Chicago Purchasing Managers Index. Crude could flip lower yet again with a lower close today.
Happy Halloween.
