Housing starts reflect the best three month period in four years. More hope for a budget compromise lifts stocks. German business confidence comes in higher than forecast and lifts the EC. American Petroleum Institute figures reflect a decline in crude stocks and this lifts crude. Oracle comes in with positive guidance and says that there won’t be negative fallout from the cliff. FedEx maintains its forecasts even while earnings slump 12% due to Sandy. Egypt tendering for wheat in the cash market lifts prices for the first time in a while. Yen still under pressure due to anticipated stimulus measures.
