Initial claims come in at 344K against 361K expected. Q3 GDP comes in at a better than expected 3.1%. The 3 handle took many by surprise. Continuing claims at 3.125. Consumption at 1.6%. This is a mixed bag overall and will be trumped by the latest headline relative to the prospective progress, or lack thereof, of the budget talks in Washington. To cliff or not to cliff, seems to be the question. Volume should be thin. S+P and Nasdaq could have flipped positive yesterday but failed to hold the higher ground.
