Failure to even vote on House Speaker Boehner’s Plan B had really thrown a wrench into the process of budget negotiations. There isn’t much of a sense of urgency or much of a spirit to negotiate at this moment. This leaves the Republicans without an alternative to the President’s current proposal which would raise taxes by 1.2 trillion on the rich and cut 1.2 trillion in spending. Without agreement, draconian measures go into effect January 1st which bringing 600 billion in spending cuts.
Durable goods come in stronger than expected.
